SERVICE — DESCRIPTION

The Sentry Telecare service concept was developed from a need identified in a Special Article published in the New England Journal of Medicine that reported the findings of a study examining occurrences of Persons Found in Their Homes Helpless or Dead. The need identified was to develop systems that could provide “more frequent checks, perhaps every 12 to 24 hours” including “electronic telephone checks” of people who live alone.

Sentry Telecare is a, subscription-based, telephone check-in and medical alert service designed to support independent living and elder care. The service includes regularly scheduled, automated telephone calls to people at risk who live alone, to confirm that they are alright and do not need immediate assistance. If the recipient of the call does not acknowledge it, a protocol for contacting a designated responsible person who can check on the customer, or arrange emergency attendance, is set in motion.

HOW DOES SENTRY TELECARE WORK?

  • You will schedule one daily check-in telephone call that will be made at a time of your choosing.
  • You answer the telephone call.
  • When prompted you press "one" to indicate all is well. Or you press "two" requesting a response from your designated contact person.
  • If you are unable to respond to the call, Sentry Telecare will notify your designated contact person that action is required.
